Jackson Old Capitol Building


In this old capitol building Mississippi failed to ratify the Thirteenth Amendment. Also in this building the notorious Black Codes were written.

    'Black Codes' is new to me. I looked it up on Wikipedia: ".. the term Black Codes is used most often to refer to legislation passed by Southern states at the end of the Civil War to control the labor, migration and other activities of newly-freed slaves". Wow.

    Yes Joe, this capitol building is very old, back to the Civil War days and Reconstruction. thank you for posting a definition of the Black Codes.
